Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling has joined with the firearms industry, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the National Shooting Sports Foundation to promote Project Child Safe in Virginia.
Project Child Safe is a national program whose purpose is to promote safe firearms handling and storage practices among firearms owners through the distribution of safety education messages and free gun locking devices.
Lieutenant Governor Bolling encouraged firearms owners in Virginia to practice safe firearms handling and storage practices and help reduce the number of injuries and deaths related to the accidental discharge of firearms.
"I have always been a strong supporter of the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms," Lieutenant Governor Bolling said. "However, along with that right comes an equally important responsibility – to store firearms safely and keep them out of the hands of children unless they are being supervised by a parent or other adult. By implementing safe firearm storage strategies, we can reduce the number of injuries and deaths that are caused by the accidental discharge of firearms."
